The aim of this workshop is to bring together strategy and organization science scholars working on research areas that address an increasingly diverse set of economic interactions taking place between firms and public or socially oriented organizations. The spectrum of themes covered in the workshop include the emergence and performance of novel boundary spanning organizational arrangements and structures between public and private sectors, such as public private partnerships, collaborative arrangements and social ventures, and their implications in terms of firm performance, as well as broader social value and public welfare.

In terms of theoretical domains, it aims to draw together and cross-fertilize on the burgeoning set of studies that exist, albeit, quite separately, on public-private interaction from the perspectives of institutional environment and political strategy, contractual and firm boundary theory, public entrepreneurship, as well as innovation and social value perspectives.
