The Integration of Stakeholder and Sustainable Management Principles at Different Levels of the Firm: Conceptual and Empirical Challenges

This workshop aims to tackle the conceptual and empirical challenges in the study of organizational evolution towards the sustainable enterprise. To do so, we address the organizational learning and change challenges towards sustainability by looking at the integration of sustainable and stakeholder management principles at different levels within and across organizations: the individual, the organizational/functional, and the eco-system level. We will also leverage our experience in the “GOLDEN for Sustainability” program, a global collaborative research effort involving a large network of research centers, companies and institutions. The workshop is organized as follows: First, the speakers present a critical review of research in these domains and offer generalizable recommendations for well-grounded research work on these questions. Then, participants will be invited to collectively discuss in round-tables and offer their views and experiences on the conceptual and empirical challenges of studying the integration of sustainability principles in the enterprise. We close with a plenary reflection and the distillation of key recommendations for future research efforts to tackle these issues across levels, methodologies and disciplinary fields. The workshop is hosted by the Stakeholder Strategy Interest Group.
